The list of the domains of a Workspace: add them, open them, filter them and act on several at once.

What it is

Domains is the list of every domain in a Workspace, with its latest scores and the main thing to fix on each one. To get there, choose a Workspace and, in its menu, open Domains.

From here you add a domain, open one, and select several to analyze, move, delete or put under continuous stabilization in one go.

What it is for

  • See the whole Workspace on one screen. One row per domain, with its scores, its risk and its top issue.
  • Go straight to the trouble. The filters separate the domains where something was lost, the ones that still need work and the ones whose verification is not in force.
  • Save clicks. What you would do domain by domain, you do once for all the selected ones.
  • Know what is protected. You see which domains are under continuous stabilization and which are not.

How it works

  • A domain is unique within your account. It lives in one Workspace only. To have it in another Workspace you move it; you do not add it twice.
  • Adding a domain only registers it. Nothing is charged, and no analysis is launched; the one exception is the first domain of a new account, whose first analysis starts on its own. You are taken into the new domain, where you run its first analysis and verify it. See Static analysis.
  • The two scores are separate. Continuous stabilization is the score of the latest measurement of a domain that is measured continuously. Static is the score of the last static analysis: a picture of the day it was run. Each one carries its own date.
  • The filters follow fixed rules. On fire: something that was protected has been lost. Review: the domain is under continuous stabilization with medium or high risk, or it is not and its static analysis is low, old or missing. Maintenance: the verification of the domain is not in force, because it was never done, is pending or expired.
  • Continuous stabilization needs three things. A verified domain, a subscription, and a free domain in your plan. A plan reserves a number of domains; each domain with continuous stabilization turned on uses one. See Billing.
  • Deleting a domain is permanent. Its analyses and its history are deleted with it. If the domain was under continuous stabilization, it stops there and the domain it used in your plan becomes free.
  • Moving a domain changes only its Workspace. It keeps its data and, if it has it, its continuous stabilization.
  • What you can do depends on your role. The Owner can always do everything. An Operator or a Viewer can add, analyze, move or delete domains, or turn on continuous stabilization, only if their role includes it. The buttons are shown to everyone; an action your role does not include is refused with a message.

What you see on screen

  • Add domain. The button at the top right. It opens the dialog New domain.
  • Three marks under the title. How many domains the Workspace has, how many need attention and how many are under continuous stabilization. The second and third only appear when the number is not zero. Clicking the one about attention applies the filter On fire.
  • The filters. All, On fire, Review, Maintenance and With continuous stabilization, each with the number of domains in it.
  • The search box. It filters the list by domain name as you type.
  • Bulk actions. It selects every domain in the list as it is filtered at that moment. It is replaced by the action bar while something is selected.
  • The action bar. It appears when at least one domain is selected and says how many are. Its buttons: Scan selected, Move to…, Delete, Activate continuous stabilization and Clear selection.
  • The list, one row per domain, oldest first. Its columns:
  • The checkbox. It selects the row. The one in the header selects or clears every row in the list.
  • Domain. The name of the domain.
  • Continuous stabilization. The score of the latest measurement and its date. A dash with Active, not measured yet means it was turned on and has not been measured yet. A dash with No continuous stabilization comes with the link Activate →, which takes you to that option inside the domain.
  • Static. The score of the last static analysis and its date. A dash with No static analysis means it was never run; with The analysis did not score, that it ran and gave no score.
  • Risk. The risk of the latest measurement of continuous stabilization: High Risk, Medium Risk or Low Risk. A domain without it, or not measured yet, shows No data.
  • Top issue. The first thing to fix according to continuous stabilization. A dash when there is none or the domain does not have it.
  • Open. It takes you into the domain. Clicking anywhere on the row does the same.

The two score columns have a small question mark in their header that explains the score.

A Workspace without domains shows, instead of the list, an invitation with the Add domain button.

How to…

Add a domain

  1. Press Add domain. The dialog New domain opens.
  2. Type the name in Domain: the domain only.
  3. Press Add, or Cancel to leave without adding anything.

The domain is created and you are taken into it. If it cannot be added, a message says why and the dialog stays open with what you typed, so you can correct it.

Open a domain

  1. Find the domain in the list. Use the search box if the list is long.
  2. Press Open, or click anywhere on its row.

Find the domains that need attention

  1. Press On fire. These are the domains where something that was protected has been lost: start here.
  2. Press Review for the ones that still have work to do.
  3. Press Maintenance for the ones whose verification is not in force.
  4. Press All to see the whole list again.

A domain can be in Maintenance and in one of the other two at the same time: verification is counted apart.

Run the static analysis on several domains

  1. Tick the checkbox of each domain. To take all the ones in the list, apply the filter you want and press Bulk actions.
  2. Press Scan selected.
  3. A bar shows the progress and the domain being analyzed. The domains are analyzed one after another. To stop, press the X of the bar: the ones already analyzed stay analyzed.

When it ends, the selection is cleared and the column Static shows the new scores with their date.

Move domains to another Workspace

  1. Select the domains.
  2. Press Move to…. The dialog Move domains to another Workspace opens.
  3. Choose the Workspace in Target workspace. Each one is listed with the number of domains it has.
  4. Press Move domains.

The domains leave this list and appear in the other Workspace.

Delete domains

  1. Select the domains. To delete one, select only that one.
  2. Press Delete. The dialog Delete domains opens and says how many domains will be deleted.
  3. Press Delete domains, or Cancel to keep them.

It cannot be undone. The dialog does not say which of the selected domains are under continuous stabilization: check the list before confirming.

Turn on continuous stabilization on several domains

  1. Select the domains.
  2. Press Activate continuous stabilization. The dialog Activate continuous stabilization opens.
  3. Read it. It says on how many domains it will be turned on, lists by name the selected ones that are not verified and will be left out, and says how many already have it.
  4. Press the confirm button, which carries the number of domains.
  5. A bar shows the progress. To stop, press the X of the bar: the remaining ones are not attempted.

When it ends, a notice says on how many domains it was turned on and, for the others, why not. Each domain turned on uses one of the domains of your plan.

Verify a domain from this list

Verification is not done on this screen; it is done inside each domain.

  1. Press Maintenance to see the domains whose verification is not in force.
  2. Open the domain.
  3. In its menu, open Verify domain and follow the steps there.

If you get stuck

A message says the domain is already in your account

A domain can be in your account only once.

  • It is already in this Workspace. Look for it with the search box.
  • It is in another Workspace. The message names it. Go to that Workspace and move the domain here.
  • It is in a Workspace you have no access to. Ask the account Owner to move it.

A message says the name is not a valid domain

Type the domain only: its name and its ending, separated by a dot. Letters, numbers, hyphens and dots are accepted; spaces and other symbols are not.

A message says your role does not allow it

The action is not included in your role, or the Workspace is not among the ones you have access to. Ask the account Owner to change your role or your access. See Team.

The activation stopped and domains were left out

The notice says how many domains were left and why. The cause is in the account, not in the domains, so the rest were not attempted:

  • There is no subscription. Press Go to Billing, subscribe to a plan and repeat the activation.
  • Your plan has no free domains. All the domains it reserves are in use. Move to a bigger plan in Account → Billing, or turn off Continuous stabilization on a domain you no longer need.
  • The subscription has a charge pending. Update the payment method in Account → Billing and, once the charge goes through, repeat the activation.

The domains turned on before the stop stay on.

The activation dialog says nothing can be turned on

None of the selected domains can be turned on: they are not verified, or they already have continuous stabilization. The dialog lists the unverified ones by name. Verify them inside each domain, in Verify domain, and come back.

The notice lists domains with a reason next to them

Those domains were refused one by one and the rest went on. Read the reason of each:

  • The domain does not exist in public DNS. There is nothing to measure. Check the name.
  • Your role does not allow it. Turning continuous stabilization on or off is a decision about the plan. Ask the account Owner.
  • A message with a code in brackets. The request was not completed. Select those domains again. If it repeats, send us the code with your account email.

A message says the domains could not be deleted

The message is We could not delete the domains. Please try again. and nothing was deleted: the deletion is all or nothing. The usual causes:

  • Your role does not include it. Ask the account Owner.
  • You selected more than 200 domains. Delete them in smaller groups.

A message says the domains could not be moved

The message is We could not move the domains. Please try again.. The usual causes:

  • Your role does not include it, or you have no access to the Workspace you chose. Ask the account Owner.
  • You selected more than 200 domains. Move them in smaller groups.

If the list of Workspaces in the dialog is empty, there is no other Workspace you can see.

A domain kept its old score after the analysis

The analysis of several domains does not report failures: a domain that could not be analyzed is skipped and the next one goes on. Three things explain a score that did not change:

  • It was analyzed a moment ago. The recent result is reused.
  • Fewer parts of the new analysis finished than of the previous one. The previous one is kept.
  • Too many analyses in the same minute. Select the domains that kept their old date and run it again, in smaller groups.

Look at the date under the score to know which analysis you are seeing.

The list is empty

  • With a filter applied, the message is No domains match this filter.. Press All.
  • With text in the search box, no domain name contains it. Clear the box.
  • With neither, the Workspace has no domains yet: press Add domain.

The screen shows an error instead of the list

The list could not be loaded. Reload the page. If it happens again and you are not the Owner, your role may not include the dashboards of the account: ask the Owner to check it.
