ESENPT

The dated record of what happened on a domain and who did it: the system, your agency or the client.

What it is

The timeline is the log of a domain. Each entry is one event, with its date and time and a tag saying who did it. Events are listed from newest to oldest.

To open it, open a domain and choose Timeline in its menu.

The account Owner can always open it. An Operator or a Viewer opens it if their role includes reading domains.

What it is for

  • Show the work that nobody sees. Every analysis, every alert and every protected improvement is on record with its date.
  • Answer "who did this, and when?" Each event says whether it was the system, your agency or the client.
  • Keep the reasons. A note leaves written why a decision was made, next to the event it explains.
  • Know whether the client is looking. The record says when a shared report was opened.
  • Take the evidence with you. You export the record as CSV or PDF, or download the full package of the domain.

How it works

  • Events write themselves. The record is filled in as things happen on the domain. The only thing you write by hand is a note.
  • Nothing is edited or deleted. There is no option to change or remove an event, and that includes your notes.
  • Each event has one author. The tag reads AGENCY when someone on your team did it from the console: running a static analysis, turning continuous stabilization on or off, accepting a change as intentional, writing a note. It reads CLIENT when the client opened a shared report or an email sent to them from Domain Stabilizer. Everything else reads SYSTEM.
  • The screen reaches back a retention period. Older events are not shown, and a date filter cannot go further back than that.
  • Events load in batches. The newest ones come first; you ask for the next batch with Load more.
  • The client does not see this screen. The timeline is for your team. It reaches the client only if you export it and hand it over. It is not part of the reports sent to clients.
  • It is not the same as History. That screen summarizes continuous stabilization month by month: the score at the start and at the end, what was protected, each incident and how it ended. The timeline is the raw sequence, event by event, with its author, and it also records analyses, reports and notes. A domain that never had Continuous stabilization still has a timeline.

These are the events a domain records:

  • Static analysis run. Someone ran Static Analysis on the domain. The entry shows the score, the risk level and the run number.
  • Continuous stabilization turned on. Someone turned on Continuous stabilization on the domain. Turning it off is recorded too.
  • Continuous stabilization set the starting point. The first measurement of each module, with its score.
  • Continuous stabilization protected an improvement. An improvement that from then on is held as the level to keep. The entry says which one.
  • Alert raised, Alert resolved and Alert reappeared. The life of each alert of continuous stabilization.
  • Notification sent. The notice about an alert went out.
  • Change accepted as intentional. Someone accepted an alert as an intended change. The entry shows the module, the reason given and who accepted it.
  • Report generated, Report shared and Report viewed. A report of the domain was created, shared through a link, or opened.
  • Agency note. A note written by your team, signed with the name of its author.

A domain with earlier history keeps its old events, under the names they had at the time.

What you see on screen

  • The header. The title, the name of the domain and five buttons: CSV and PDF to export the record, Bundle to download the full package of the domain, Templates to open message drafts for the client, and Refresh.
  • Filters. The Event types selector, where you tick one or more types, and the dates From and To. The list updates as soon as you change a filter. With a filter set, Clear filters appears.
  • Add agency note. A text box, a character counter and the Add note button.
  • The counters. One chip per event type with its count, and below, the dates the list covers. The counts refer to the batch of events loaded last, not to the whole record.
  • The list of events. Each entry carries the name of the event, the tag of who did it, the date and time, and the detail when there is one. At the end, Load more appears while there are older events.

There is no search by text. To find something, filter by type and by dates.

How to…

Find an event

  1. In Filters, open Event types and tick the types you want to see.
  2. Narrow the dates with From and To. Each day counts in full, in your local time.
  3. If the list ends with Load more, press it to bring older events.

To see everything again, press Clear filters.

Add a note

  1. In Add agency note, write the note: the context, the decision, what the client asked for. It holds up to 2,000 characters.
  2. Press Add note.

The note appears in the list as Agency note, with the current date and your name. It cannot be edited or deleted afterwards, so read it before saving.

Your role must allow writing notes. The Owner always can.

Export the record as CSV or PDF

  1. In the header, press CSV or PDF.
  2. The file downloads to your computer.

The export does not follow the filters on screen: it carries the events of the retention period, up to twelve months back. The PDF is written in the language of the console.

The files list each event with its date, its type and who did it. They do not include the text of the notes.

Exports have a daily limit per domain, shared by both formats.

Download the full package of the domain

  1. In the header, press Bundle.
  2. A ZIP file downloads.

The package holds the data of the domain, its analyses, this timeline, the history of continuous stabilization and the PDF documents generated for the domain. It is what you hand over when a client leaves or asks for an audit.

Your role must allow reading reports, and the domain must be in a Workspace assigned to you. The package can be requested a few times per hour.

Copy a message draft for the client

  1. In the header, press Templates. The dialog Client communication templates opens.
  2. Choose a draft from the list. It comes filled in with the data of the domain.
  3. Edit the subject and the body if you need to.
  4. Press Copy subject + body and paste it into your own email or chat.

Domain Stabilizer does not send these messages. You send them, through your own channel.

If you get stuck

The list says there are no events

The screen shows No events recorded for this domain yet. in two cases. Either nothing has happened on the domain yet, or the filters leave nothing out to show. Press Clear filters if it is there. If the domain is new, run Static Analysis: each run is recorded here.

The timeline does not load

The screen shows Failed to load timeline. Press Refresh. If you were moving fast through the filters, wait a minute and try again: the screen accepts a limited number of queries per minute.

The note is not saved because of your role

Under the text box you read Your role does not allow adding notes.. Your role in this account does not include writing notes. Ask the account Owner to change it.

The note is not saved

Under the text box you read Failed to add note.. Your text is still in the box: press Add note again. If you were adding many notes in a row, wait a minute first.

You added a note and it is not in the list

The list reloads with the filters you have set. If Event types does not include Agency note, or To is a day before today, the note is saved but hidden. Press Clear filters.

An old event is no longer there

The screen shows the events of the retention period. Older ones are not listed, and setting an earlier date in From does not bring them back. The package you download with Bundle carries the timeline without that cut.

The export does not download

Exports have a daily limit per domain, and CSV and PDF count together. Once you reach it, the export is refused until the next day. If you need the record today, Bundle includes the timeline too.

The counters do not match what you expect

The counters count the batch of events loaded last, not the whole record. After pressing Load more they show the numbers of the batch that just arrived. For totals over a period, export the record.
