Your subscription, your plan, your payment method and your invoices, in one screen.
What it is
Billing is where you see and manage the subscription of your account. It is in the account menu: Account → Billing.
The account Owner can always open it. A member whose role does not include billing sees a notice saying so.
What it is for
Know what you pay and when. The screen tells you the state of the subscription, the next charge and its date.
Adjust the plan to your portfolio. You move to a bigger plan when you take on more clients, and to a smaller one when you need fewer domains.
Have the paperwork at hand. Every charge has its invoice, ready to download.
Leave without asking anyone. You cancel from this screen, and you can undo it while the paid period lasts.
How it works
A plan reserves a number of domains. Each domain where you turn on Continuous stabilization uses one of them.
Each plan has a fixed subscription price, regardless of how many of its available domains you use.
Nothing changes plan on its own. If you reach the limit of your plan, turning on one more domain is refused until you upgrade or free a domain.
Upgrading is immediate. You can use the domains of the new plan right away, and the prorated difference until the end of the period is charged that day.
Downgrading takes effect when the paid period ends. Until then you keep your current plan. Nothing is charged or credited at the moment you ask for it.
Cancelling also takes effect when the paid period ends. Until that day your domains stay under continuous stabilization. That day it stops on them; their history is kept.
The first month is free, once per account. You enter a payment method when you subscribe, and the first charge is made when the trial month ends. If you cancel and come back later, there is no second trial.
You keep your price while your subscription stays active. If prices go up, yours does not, also when you move to a bigger or a smaller plan. If you cancel and subscribe again later, you enter at the price on sale that day.
Payments are processed by Paddle. Your card details are not stored in Domain Stabilizer.
What you see on screen
The screen is a column of blocks. Some only appear when they apply.
Your subscription. One sentence with the state of the subscription: in the trial month, active with its next charge, with a cancellation scheduled, or with a charge that failed. Below it, how many domains of the plan are in use and until when the period is paid. If your account subscribed during the founding stage, a Founding account mark appears next to the title.
Change plan. The list of plans, each with the domains it covers and its price per month. Without a subscription this block is titled Choose a plan. Your plan carries the Your plan mark; the others carry a button: Subscribe, Upgrade to this plan or Downgrade to this plan. When regular price appears next to the price of a plan, that is the regular price of the plan and the first one is yours.
Payment method. The Change payment method button. It only appears with a subscription.
Invoices. One row per charge, with its date and amount and a Download button. The start of the trial month appears as a row with no charge and no invoice.
Cancel the subscription. The Cancel subscription button. It disappears once a cancellation is scheduled.
Previous subscriptions. The subscriptions the account had and that already ended. It only appears if there are any.
How to…
Subscribe to a plan
Open Account → Billing.
In Choose a plan, find the plan that covers the number of domains you need.
Press Subscribe. The secure checkout opens. Enter your payment method and complete the subscription.
When you come back, the block Your subscription shows the trial month or the active subscription.
After that, open each domain you want to protect and turn on Continuous stabilization.
Move to a bigger plan
In Change plan, press Upgrade to this plan on the plan you want.
Read the confirmation: it states the new price and that the difference is charged today.
Press Upgrade to this plan again to confirm, or Back to leave everything as it was.
Move to a smaller plan
In Change plan, press Downgrade to this plan on the plan you want.
Read the confirmation: it states the new price and the date from which it applies.
Press Downgrade to this plan again to confirm.
The plan you are moving to is marked Scheduled, and a notice with the date appears in Your subscription. To change your mind, press Undo in that notice.
Cancel the subscription
Go to the block Cancel the subscription and press Cancel subscription.
Read the confirmation: it states the day the subscription ends and on how many domains continuous stabilization stops that day.
Press Cancel subscription to confirm.
To change your mind before that day, press Do not cancel in the block Your subscription.
Change the payment method
In Payment method, press Change payment method.
Paddle's payment portal opens in another tab. Change the card there.
Download an invoice
In Invoices, find the row of the charge by its date.
Press Download. The invoice opens in another tab.
If you get stuck
The screen says your role cannot see billing
Your role in this account does not include billing. Ask the account Owner to make the change.
The downgrade button is greyed out
You have more domains under continuous stabilization than the smaller plan covers; the plan says so in red under its price. Turn off Continuous stabilization on as many domains as needed, come back, and the button is enabled.
No plan button responds
Plans cannot be changed in two situations: while a cancellation is scheduled, and while a charge is pending. In the first case press Do not cancel first. In the second, update the payment method and wait for the charge to go through.
The screen says the subscription could not be charged
The card was declined or expired. Press Change payment method and update it in Paddle's portal; the charge is retried. Until it goes through, plans cannot be changed.
The invoices do not load
The invoices are fetched from Paddle at that moment. If Paddle does not answer, the block says so and offers Retry. The rest of the screen keeps working.
The plan did not change
If Paddle does not accept a change, the screen says so: your plan did not change and nothing was charged. Try again in a few minutes. If the message shows a code, send it to us with your account email.
The plan does not offer the free month
The free month is once per account. An account that already had a subscription, even a cancelled one, subscribes without a trial.
